Essay outline

Mercutio is often considered one of Shakespeare's best characters and yet he is killed quite early in this play. Discuss how the relationships Mercutio is in influence his behaviour/choices, and discuss WHY you think so many people (including me) find him interesting and pleasure to watch/read. What do you think Shakespeare would say about his character Mercutio? Would he like him? Would he think he was brave, honourable, immature, ignorant, or wise?

I find Mercutio interesting for many reasons:
- he wants the 2 families to be in peace
-he is the first to see that Romeo is deeply in love
-Mercutio views love as something imaginary and makes sexual jokes about it, he argues that love is a dream and dreams are nothing
-because of his view on love, his jokes, he makes the plot more interesting

I think that Shakespeare would think of Mercutio as wise and immature. He might think he's wise because if Shakespeare thought that love is nothing, he might agree with Mercutio's words that it's just a dream and dreams are nothing. He might think he's immature on the jokes that he makes about love.

LOVE

Love

Lady Montague/Lord Montague:

“Where is Romeo, he was sad and crying. My depressed son runs away from the light and comes home, and locks himself in his room and locks out the daylight. He is an advisor to his own affections, keeps it all to himself. I think that he needs some advice or someone to talk to. He won’t tell me so Benvolio can go talk to him. I don’t know why he is sad but the Capulets better not be a part of this. I don’t think it is something irrelevant like love, why would you cry about love when you have your family to love you. I wish I could hear his confession but I have to leave, come madam, let’s leave. I think that Romeo should care more about our reputation more then who he loves, because if he loves a capulet, it will ruin our reputation.

We don't want Romeo to be in love with a capulet, they are our enemies. There are many girls here he could love just like me and lady Montague. Our relationship didn't ruin our reputation because we aren't enemies. It would be better if we decide who Romeo would marry.
I don't want Romeo to commit any mistakes with his life but I don't think he will listen to us, he would just ignore us. I think it would be better if someone his own age will tell him what his mistakes are.

Mid-term

I think the mark I deserve for English is 88% which is an A I think

A: I'm always in class on time, I take part in class activities and always come with a positive attitude and ready to learn. I pay attention and use my time efficiently most of the time but sometimes, I get distracted and I'm trying to ignore it. I think that one thing that I need to improve on is socializing because to be honest, I think I socialize with a lot with my friends, but I try to stop it by sometimes ignoring them.(21/25)

B: All my assignments are handed in on time, and I have all of them done. But sometimes I get busy with homework from other classes, but I try to handed it on time. Or I usually submit it asap the next day. (23/25)

C: I try my best on my assignments and I sometimes get ideas from other people. When I'm done my assignment, I compare it to atleast 2-3 other people in the class and try to improve mine. One persons assignment I always compare my assignment to is Harinas, because she has a good choice of vocab and her work is usually really detailed. I try to explain my work well so people could understand it. One thing that I think I'm doing well in English 10 is the Shakespeare assignments, like translating some of the lines for the chorus, plus I also enjoy it! But another thing that I think I should improve on is the poems, like how we compared the poem "To a Stranger" to the authors life, I think that's the area im stuggling in. (21/25)
Harinas work compared to mine^

Part D:
I think I work well with my classmates and I comment on other peoples blogs, take part in edmodo conversations and help others. (23/25)
